While Ceylon Sapphires are well known, the stone also comes in a range of colours known as "Fancy Sapphires." Violet, green, yellow, orange, pink, purple and intermediate hues are some of the other shades of Sapphires, even be grey, black or brown.
White Sapphires are so dazzling they are sometimes mistaken for Diamonds!
A special orangy pink sapphire colour is called padparadscha, which means “lotus flower” in Sinhalese, the language spoken in Sri Lanka.
Traditionally, sapphire symbolises nobility, truth, sincerity and faithfulness. It has decorated the robes of royalty and clergy members for centuries and has been associated with royalty and romance.
